Jerrod Wertz has spent nearly 10 years coaching youth baseball and helping young athletes develop both on and off the field. While he stepped away from coaching over the past couple of years to enjoy watching his son, Landon, play high school baseball, he remained closely involved with the game by working with Landon and several former players throughout their high school careers.

Jerrod believes baseball teaches lessons that extend far beyond the diamond—teamwork, accountability, perseverance, leadership, and resilience. In his view, being part of a team means putting the group’s success ahead of individual accomplishments.

This season is especially unique, as Jerrod has the opportunity to coach alongside Landon. While Landon is officially the head coach, he is currently away at the University of Northern Iowa, leaving Jerrod in charge of fall ball in the interim—making him either the acting head coach or the assistant coach keeping things on track until the real boss returns.

Jerrod is excited to work with these young athletes, help them refine their skills, and foster a positive, competitive environment focused on confidence, teamwork, and character development.

“Baseball is about more than the game itself. It’s about becoming a great teammate, a great competitor, and ultimately a great person.”
