bio

Baseball has been a part of Landon Wertz’s life for as long as he can remember. From the time he could walk, he had a baseball in his hand and a passion for the game. Over the years, baseball has taught him countless life lessons, including the value of hard work, perseverance, accountability, teamwork, and leadership. Those experiences have helped shape who he is both on and off the field.

Landon is a graduate of West Bend-West, where he was a four-year member of the Spartans baseball program. Through dedication and hard work, he earned a starting varsity role as both a junior and senior, becoming a key contributor as an outfielder and pitcher. His versatility, competitive nature, and team-first approach helped him make an impact both on the mound and in the field.

In addition to his high school career, Landon spent four years playing for Bigler Baseball, where he gained valuable experience competing against top-level talent and further developed his understanding of the game.

Landon is currently attending the University of Northern Iowa, where he is pursuing a degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in History and Coaching. He is also continuing his baseball career by playing club baseball at UNI, allowing him to stay actively involved in the game while working toward his goal of becoming a teacher and coach.

Landon’s coaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that baseball is about much more than wins and losses. The game provides opportunities to learn responsibility, discipline, teamwork, and how to respond to both success and adversity. He is passionate about helping young athletes improve their skills, build confidence, and develop a love for the game.

As a young coach who recently completed his own playing career, Landon enjoys connecting with players and sharing lessons he has learned throughout his baseball journey. He is excited for the opportunity to help players grow both on and off the field while creating an environment that is competitive, positive, and fun.

“Baseball has given me some of my best memories, closest friendships, and most valuable life lessons. My goal is to help young athletes enjoy the game while learning lessons that will benefit them long after their playing days are over.”
