U18 Big Time Baseball Head Coach
I am from Brookfield, WI, and I graduated from Brookfield Central High School in 2019 and Carroll University in 2023. My high school baseball career includes playing for Brookfield Central all four years and spending two years on varsity under Head Coach Jeff Bigler (KJ’s Brother).
I now spend my time away from baseball working full-time at an Architecture Firm and I also am working part-time as a Pastoral Resident at my Church. When I am not working, I get the pleasure of spending ample time with my beautiful wife Hannah, spending the majority of our free time outdoors or serving at our local church.
As far as baseball goes: I started high school as a catcher and gradually transitioned into a pitcher. I wasn’t a highly touted prospect; in fact, I barely made the varsity team as a junior (I was the last player selected). I wasn’t a power hitter, hard thrower, or speedster on the field; I earned everything through hard work and patience. With a fastball that topped out in the mid-70s, I had to develop my game from a mental standpoint. I learned how to attack hitters, vary my approaches, and mix different pitches to keep hitters off-balance. I found my niche as a command junk thrower. Despite my limited opportunities, I appeared in nine games on the mound over two seasons. After my senior season, I continued playing in the Bigler Summer League. That final opportunity allowed me to develop enough as a pitcher to be offered a chance to continue my baseball career at Carroll University. However, I decided not to continue at the collegiate level due to recurring shoulder issues.
This turned out to be one of my best decisions, as it led me to coaching.
In the summer of 2020, I started my coaching career and have loved spending the last four years coaching youth athletes and developing relationships with the players and their families. As a coach, I focus on the mental aspect of the game and emphasize creating a positive, team-first culture. I believe the most successful teams are player-led teams. While coaching is important, putting players in a position to grow and lead each other is where progress happens. My coaching philosophy centers on high energy, unmatched effort, and a winning attitude. I truly believe baseball is 90% mental. Talent can give players opportunities, but hard work allows them to earn and excel in those opportunities.
